As one of the few subjective areas of our testing, we do our best to still quantify our results by including many users and data logging the results. Even though cordless tools are getting a bit smaller and lighter, due to technology, the cordless impact wrenches still have some weight and girth. Using a heavy tool can be a real pain, so it makes sense to place value on the fit and comfort of such a tool. More than just weight, balance, and vibration also play into our testing.
The Milwaukee 2763 has very few notable faults. One issue is that the work light LED is just under the front of the impact. Commonly, users will use their other hand to brace the front of the impact, this will block the LED so it’s nearly useless. The 2763 delivers great power, and it did well in our speed test as well. Milwaukee sets itself apart with the 5-year warranty, and you can buy it online, your tool store, or in the big box stores.

When choosing your new cordless impact wrench, there are a few things you should consider. The first thing to decide is the brand. If you have other cordless tools, it’s a good idea to choose a cordless impact wrench that uses the same battery pack and charger as your other devices. It’s also a good idea to spend a little time doing a cordless impact wrench comparison. Some of the high-end models offer additional features such as adjustable torque settings, which cuts out the need to use a manual torque wrench.
Many users choose to equip their air-powered impact wrenches with a short length of air hose rather than attaching an air fitting directly to the tool. Such a hose greatly aids in fitting the wrench into tight areas, by not having the complete coupler assembly sticking out the back of the tool, as well as making it easier for the user to position the tool. An additional benefit is greatly reduced wear on the coupler, by isolating it from the vibration of the tool. A short length of hose also prevents the air fitting from being broken off in the base of the tool if the user loses their grip and the tool is allowed to spin.
Cordless impact wrenches are a great tool to use regardless – but they’re even better for people who enjoy working freely and without the restriction of a cord, or for people who need to be able to have tools that can travel with them throughout a workday. Cordless impact wrenches help to make work more convenient and an easy without sacrificing on any of the power that the air powered models are able to produce.
Many of the points for the Matco Tools impact is lost in the value department, including price and warranty. It was the highest priced of the shootout, by more than $100 ($699 MSRP). It really doesn’t have the features or output to explain the huge price. In addition, the warranty period is only 30 days. Compare this to 5 years with Milwaukee. In the end, the Matco Tools MCL2012HPIWK finished with 70.2 total points.

Mobility. By going cordless, you are taking that power and adding a real degree of mobility to it. Yes, there are pros and cons to corded and cordless devices, and you must ensure you get the best battery (and perhaps a pair of them) to offset the biggest negative of cordless devices. Still, the biggest plus is mobility and not having to worry about being tethered to a power outlet.
And its steel lined casing will help to protect it from any workplace mishaps that could occur. Long before we received the first tool for the best cordless impact wrench shootout, we were analyzing and brainstorming to determine the best avenue for power testing on impact wrenches. In short, we didn’t find anything that existed. So, we built our own rig. While it may not look like much, there are months and months of drawings, fabrication, cutting, re-thinking, un-fabricating, and re-fabricating. Then came the testing, and back through the grind again.

We used a 10-inch x 10-inch I-beam made with 1/2” (.470) steel. The I-beam has ten (10) grade 8 hardened bolts with a 7/8” diameter inserted, along with appropriate nuts and washers. The torque specification for this size bolt is 454 pounds. This means that at 454 ft-lbs of torque, the bolt is in its elastic or stretched state. We pushed the limits a bit and torqued all ten bolts to 500 ft-lbs for each impact wrench.
As it is, the tool has a very effective 2-position power button. In position 1, the power is limited to 100 lb/ft for when you need accuracy and a gentle touch. Setting 2 unleashes the dogs of war and allows you to crank out the full 700 lb/ft of torque for unrivalled power. There is no rusted or over-tightened bolt on earth that is going to be able to resist that level of power!

Jobs that require the power of an impact wrench usually entail using them for many operations over an extended period. Ergonomic handle grips and anti-vibration measures help to reduce work-related strain. Additionally, you should pick a cordless impact wrench with just the right amount of power necessary to perform the job properly. A smaller motor tends to mean fewer vibrations, which in turn lessens the physical strain.
I bought this to work on my van. I could not get 100 + foot pounds out of it. I put 150 pounds of air into it. And all I got was 80 pounds to the lug nuts. I had used a tork wrench and hand do 110 foot pounds on the lugs. Very poor instructions there's a book in 4 lanuges so this is sold as a world marquet product. I bought a 3" cut off tool also haven't used it yet.

tappet wrench ? A spanner of small to moderate size constructed similarly to an open ended wrench, but with a thinner cross section. Its purpose is to apply torque to the fasteners found on the valve trains of older engines, especially automobile engines, where the valve train required adjustment of the tappets (also known as lifters). Tappets, push rods, rocker arms and similar adjustable pieces are often equipped with locknuts which are thinner than standard nuts, due to space limitations. Frequently, the hex section of the adjustment is contiguous to the lock nut, thus requiring a thinner "tappet wrench" to be used. specialty
Cordless power tools (including impacts) are the becoming more and more common. They’re especially popular with racers. The reason being, most racecar trailers aren’t equipped to handle a high-horsepower, two-stage compressor. That means the generator most racers have can be used to keep tabs on the battery charger(s) for these electric tools. Torque output of the tool is important, but because the battery is the heart of what powers any cordless tool, picking the type of battery technology that the tool uses is critical.
