Old English wrencan "to twist," from Proto-Germanic *wrankijanan (cf. Old High German renken, German renken "to twist, wrench," Old English wringan "to wring"), from PIE *wreng- "to turn" (cf. Sanskrit vrnakti "turns, twists," Lithuanian rengtis "to grow crooked, to writhe"), nasalized variant of *werg- "to turn" (cf. Latin vergere "to turn, tend toward"), from root *wer- (3) "to turn, bend" (see versus). Related: Wrenched, wrenching.

We know it can be difficult to sort through all of the great products they have available to you on the market today – after all, there are a lot of great brands to choose from. But luckily for you, we’ve taken the time to put together a list of the top 10 cordless impact wrenches on the market, as well as a breakdown of what makes each tool so great.
You need a good a battery to power all though which is why Craftsman have bundled a top quality one in this impact wrench kit. It is a Lithium-Ion battery for superior performance (always good to see) and is rated at a phenomenal 4ah. That means it can deliver the juice to run the tool for hours on end – because what’s the point of having an outstanding tool like this if it is sat on the bench half the time waiting for a battery charge?
I`m an old fart that started wrenchin when replacing plugs and points was mandtory every 6 months or so. The introduction of battery powered impacts did not impress me at first but the stuff Milwaukee makes is unreal. They now have a big boy I`ve heard twist an unreal 1100 ft lbs!! All there stuff is great, and one battery and “one key” (for tracking) is like si-fi stuff to this old fart. I cant wait till they come out with a 18volt jack with built in jack stand.
Sockets and extensions for impact wrenches are made of high tensile metal, as any spring effect will greatly reduce the torque available at the fastener. Even so, the use of multiple extensions, universal joints, and so forth will weaken the impacts, and the operator needs to minimize their use. Using non-impact sockets or accessories with an impact wrench will often result in bending, fracturing, or otherwise damaging the accessory, as most are not capable of withstanding the sudden high torque of an impact tool, and can result in stripping the head on the fastener. Non-impact sockets and accessories are made of a harder more brittle metal. Safety glasses should always be worn when working with impact tools, as the strong impacts can generate high-speed shrapnel if a socket, accessory, or fastener fails.

Wrenches are used for tightening and loosening nuts and bolts and they come in many sizes. An adjustable wrench allows you to work with many different sizes without having to change tools. Combo wrenches include a ratchet head at the other end and socket wrenches hold various sizes of fasteners in one head. As well as generating so much torque, cordless impact wrenches are very precise, which makes them ideal for numerous applications. It’s much safer to use this type of power tool when working on a construction site, or when securing lug nuts on a wheel, as opposed to doing it by hand. Even though all impact wrenches function in the same way, if you perform a cordless impact wrench comparison, it’s easy to notice that they do have many differences.
The fact that the Milwaukee 2763 Gen 1 high torque now has a stronger big-brother, but still finished 3rd deserves big kudos. In fact, receiving 86.1 points, it only misses 2nd by 0.3 points. While some others above suffered by finishing mid-pack, this is actually a plus for the Milwaukee. The difference is, the 2763 didn’t drastically fall short in any area, like the others. Even though the price is higher than several, with it’s 5-year warranty, features, and ergonomics, it’s still a great value.
Grip – Impact wrenches can actually come in a few shapes and sizes, but in this guide we’ve concentrated on models that – if you squint – look like standard power drills. We’ve done this as most cordless style impact wrenches are of this type. They are also simple to use. Because of their shape they do need a good grip, so make sure you bear that in mind. A good grip should be ergonomic, so it’s comfortable to hold, with good trigger placement and a raised or rubberized surface so you can orient the tool in your hand by touch only.

While the DeWALT tied for 2nd for features, it did suffer just a bit in the ergonomics category. With ergonomics being a more subjective testing category, users probably need to put the tool in their hand to make their own decision. If you have other DeWALT tools or you think you’re leaning to the DCF899, it’s easy to yes to this impact wrench. Furthermore, you can find the DeWALT stuff about anywhere tools are sold, making it easy for purchase.

Did she go quickly from under the men's feet, or did she resist to the end, letting the sea batter her to pieces, start her butts, wrench her frame, load her with an increasing weight of salt water, and, dismasted, unmanageable, rolling heavily, her boats gone, her decks swept, had she wearied her men half to death with the unceasing labour at the pumps before she sank with them like a stone?
